I see Africa as a continent with a rich cultural heritage, which if properly harnessed through the art of literature could give Africa its right place in world. I will be glad to be part of your initiatives. I am from the southern part of Nigeria. I did a research work on the folktales of a State in the Niger-Delta region, South-South in Nigeria. Folktales being one of the great African heritage that is already going into extinction, due to lack of preservation culture. I have the conviction that the only way to preserve this cultural values for the generation of African children is by immortalising them through the art of literature. I collected the data (folktales) from the indigenous communities, translate them to English language with the help the indigens. They were being vetted by the local linguists, and I developed into childrens' Storybook titled 'The Golden Heritage: Story! Story!!'. The uniqueness of the work lies in the fact that, even though English Language was used as a medium; the contents and context of the work are practically African, hence reflecting the harsh realities of the Niger Delta region of Nigeria, as well as highlighting the societal norms and values. The use of unique local pictures, settings, images, symbols and idiophones were used to enhance the African taste in the work. I developed this story book 'The Golden Heritage: Story! Story!!' as a legacy for the generation of Africa Children. Ever think of celebrating it in the Niger Delta of Nigeria Style? Think of The Golden Heritage: Story! Story!!
