The Campaign to Promote and Strenghten African Arts by Mimeta

Exhibition "Trait d'union" - Rhode Bath-Schéba Makoumbou

To highlight her return in her native country, after embarking on a 5 year international carrer with Belgium as a starting point, the artist will unveil her recent works including monumental sculptures and oil paintings. During those 3 days, a flat bed truck featuring an installation of sculptures will travel through the streets of Brazzaville city centre, essentially in popular areas, open markets, in order to promote art to local people who are not used to go to the places where artistic or cultural events are usually held. Rhode Makoumbou is very keen to show through dialogue with the local population that art can be a major force that will help people to unify or get some sense of unity.

From Thursday 26 until Sunday 28 March 2010.
From 2PM - 7PM.
Centre Culturel Français (CCF)

All information about the artist can be found on her Website: http://www.rhodemakoumbou.eu

Hot Club Christianssand

HCCH gives you the swing of the gypsies, the grooving rythms of africa, the exotic sounds of arabia...
With a strong passion for jazz manouche and an urge to explore the music and cultures around the world, this is a band with ambitions. Hot Club Christianssand is a band of strong personalities and instrumentalists that lives and breath for music. When you get the virtuosity and the playful violin with agressive guitars and a bass that will never let you go, this band is guaranteed to make you swing.

Hot Club in Africa
The band are challenging the conventional shape of the jazz manouche by exploring music and melodies from other musical worlds. With that in mind HCCH has gone to Africa, to Tanzania and Mosambique - teaming up with african musicians such as our long time friend Mahsin (Quanon and percussion). By combining the energy and the positive vibrations from Africa with the passionate, warm blooded jazz manouche we hope to bring even more into this vivid music. Our first attempt to fuse the european, arab and african sounds forming the sountrack to East Africa - can be heard on this website by clicking "sounds" in the main menu: http://www.hcch.no/
